The Mobile Training Unit (MTU) was acquired through joint collaborations between the Parliament, the Ministry of Regional, Local Government and Housing and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in 2001. When the MTU was first introduced it had 10 thin clients on board, equipped with one server with hot swappable hard drives and a 128k leased line for internet access but it has since been upgraded to Mobile internet technologies employed to access websites replacing the leased line. The server has been upgraded to the latest server technology. An offline version of the Parliament website is also available on the server for those areas without remote mobile connectivity. The MTU is powered by normal 220-240 electricity supply, but it is also equipped with a 220-240 volt power generator for areas without electricity. |
