Newly appointed British High Commissioner pays a courtesy call to the Speaker, 5 March 2017

Ms Kate Airey, the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Prof. Peter H. Katjavivi

 

 

Ms Kate Airey who was appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia during January 2018 paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Prof. Peter H. Katjavivi yesterday.

Speaker Katjavivi informed the High Commissioner about the on-going exercise of establishing Joint- Rules for both Houses of Parliament and the Joint Parliamentary Budget Office and expressed hope for continuation of engagements with the United Kingdom in terms of capacity building and sharing of experiences.

“The purpose of the Parliamentary Budget office is to provide Parliament and its Committees with objective, independent and timely analysis of the national budget,” Katjavivi said.

The High Commissioner who was awarded the honour of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for her humanitarian work during the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone in 2014 informed the Speaker about the various projects the British Commission will embark on during her tenure of office.
