A delegation comprised of Members of the Bavarian State Parliament from the Federal Republic of Germany visited the Namibian Parliament on the 20th of March 2017. The delegation led by Hon. Petra L. Guttenberger emphasized the need for economic cooperation between Namibia and the State of Bavaria. Of particular importance to the delegation was solar energy. Read more >>>

MPs attending the 61st Session of the CSW

Members of the Parliament of Namibia joined Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world in attending the 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Session kicked off on 13 and it will go until 24 March 2017.

It is being hosted under the following themes:

  • Priority theme:
  • Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work
  • Review theme:
  • Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls (agreed conclusions of the fifty-eighth session)
  • Emerging issue/Focus area:
  • The empowerment of indigenous women
